Red Hawks Lose To Conference-Leading Knox College

GALESBURG, Ill. - Ripon held their own with the Midwest Conference's best team Sunday afternoon, entering the second half trailing Knox by one goal. The Prairie Fire would then score three times in the second half to put the game out of reach, sending the Red Hawks to a 4-0 defeat. Knox also held a 22-6 shot advantage, including 15-3 in the first period.

Knox (12-3-1, 7-0-0 MWC) broke a scoreless tie in the 27th minute on a goal by Hank Horwitz, who headed the ball into the net on assists from Jake Ly and Charlie Raymond.

The Prairie Fire doubled their lead in the 71st minute when Erick Karkut scored on an assist from Phelipe Graske. Knox would score twice more, including a goal by Ly, who was assisted by Jun Min.

Jimmy Amedeo played the entire game in goal for Ripon (4-10-0, 0-6-0 MWC), making eight saves, while Justin Dunn recorded a complete game shutout for Knox, while registering one save.

The Red Hawks will be in action again on Saturday when they'll host Grinnell College in what will also serve as Ripon's annual Senior Day celebration, honoring Steven Lanphier, Cameron Greene, Nick Thillman, and Ben Vorpahl. That game will begin at 1 p.m. at Prairie Field in Ripon.
