LAKE FOREST, Ill. - After winning their first two dual meets of the season, Ripon's men's swim team suffered their first defeat of the season Saturday afternoon, losing to Lake Forest College by a score of 121-66.
The Red Hawks did not win any events, but they did place second in several.
Nate Pakosz finished second in both the 100 freestyle (56.12) and 50 freestyle (25.99), while also swimming a leg on Ripon's second-place freestyle relay team, along with
Jack Lutter,
Andy Paloumpis, and
Alec Sutton, with a time of 1:43.83. Lutter added second-place finishes in both the 100 butterfly (1:03.09) and 400 freestyle (4:49.84), while Paloumpis took second in the 200 freestyle (2:18.95).
Ripon's 200 medley relay team of Tutis Rudzinskas,
Brenden Finley,
Teerit Somanand, and
Antony Gradillas also finished second with a time of 2:06.05. Finley added second-place finishes in the 200 IM (2:44.41) and 100 breaststroke (1:16.93), while Somanand was second in the 800 freestyle (10:35.39) and Rudzinskas was second in the 100 backstroke (1:13.43).
The Red Hawks will try to improve on their times next weekend when they'll travel to Beloit College on Saturday for a dual meet with the Buccaneers. That meet will begin at 1 p.m. in Beloit, Wis.
