WINTER HAVEN, Fla. - The Ripon baseball team lost the final game of their Spring Trip Friday afternoon, falling 11-1 to McDaniel College in eight innings.
McDaniel (13-1) opened the scoring with two runs in the bottom of the second inning. Ripon (2-8) would cut that lead in half in the third when
Isiah Ramos hit his first collegiate home run.Â
McDaniel added two more runs on four hits in the fourth and would plate four runs in the fifth to take control of the game. They would then finish the game with one run run in each of the final three frames.
Ripon finished with nine hits, with three of those coming off the bat of
Nick Schmitt.
Jimmy Doedens added two hits for the Red Hawks.
Brice Swick (0-2) suffered the loss, striking out one batter in four innings.
McDaniel recorded 18 hits, led by three apiece from Sean Sivo, Kaleb Reitz, Tyler O'Shea and Antonio Rosanova. Marty Windisch (5-0) earned the win, pitching a complete game, while striking out three and walking none.
The Red Hawks will now return to Wisconsin for their home opener on Wednesday against Marian University. That single game will begin at 3:30 p.m. at Francis Field in Ripon.
