FOND DU LAC, Wis. - The Ripon baseball team lost to Marian University Wednesday night by a score of 10-4 in a back-and-forth game.
The Red Hawks started the scoring with a run in the top of the second on an RBI double by
Michael Barnes. Marian tied things up in the bottom of that inning with a single up the middle, but Ripon grabbed the lead back the following inning on an RBI by
Randy Finger. The score was tied again in the fourth on an RBI double by Marian. The Sabres then took the lead with two runs on four hits in the fifth. Ripon got one of those runs back in the sixth on an RBI single by
Nick Kita, but Marian put the game away for good with a six-run sixth inning.
Ripon registered eight hits, led by Kita's three base knocks, while Barnes went 2-for-4 at the plate.
Brian Wilson (1-2) suffered the loss, allowing one earned run on four hits in two-thirds of an inning.
The Red Hawks will have the weekend off before getting back on the field Tuesday against Wisconsin Lutheran. That game will begin at 4 p.m. at Francis Field in Ripon.
