RIPON, Wis. - Ripon's volleyball team remained undefeated on the young season with two more wins Saturday during the second and final day of the 2016 Ripon Quadrangular. The Red Hawks defeated both Alverno and North Central (Ill.) in three sets to finish the Quad as the only team to win all their games (3-0).
In their first match of the day, Ripon was dominant, defeating Alverno 25-7, 25-7, 25-13, as the Red Hawks trailed just twice in the match.
Katie Berrell paced the Red Hawks with 10 kills, while
Paige Buddenhagen and
Jonalee Elliott added seven and six, respectively.
Olivia Heck led all players with 21 assists, while
Stacie Klika recorded a match-high 12 digs.
The Red Hawks followed that up with one that was just as impressive, defeating North Central (Ill.) 25-22, 25-13, and 25-13. In that match,
Kat Kulas led the way with eight kills, while Berrell added seven and Buddenhagen and
Aubreigh Zimmerman each had five.
Abbi Williamson posted a match-high 23 assists, while
Kendra Holte added a team-high 10 digs.
Kulas was named to the All-Tournament Team at the conclusion of the Quadrangular. In three matches (nine sets), Kulas recorded 22 kills (2.44 per set) and a hitting percentage of .419, while also posting a team-high 10 blocks (three solo).
The Red Hawks will try to remain undefeated on Wednesday when they'll travel to Milwaukee to face MSOE at 7 p.m.
