RIPON, Wis. - Ripon College's volleyball team moved into fourth place in the Midwest Conference standings with a four-set victory against Lawrence University Friday night to greatly improve their chances for a berth in the four-team MWC Tournament at the end of the season.
Ripon (8-14, 3-2 MWC) took the first set against the Vikings 25-21, before losing the second, 17-25. The Red Hawks then finished strong by winning the final two sets, 25-21 and 25-19.
The Red Hawks finished the match with a hitting percentage of .167, compared to a .079 hitting percentage for Lawrence (9-13, 4-2 MWC). Ripon recorded double-digit kills in each set, averaging 12.8 kills per set.
Senior
Kat Kulas continued her strong play as of late, posting 11 kills and a .444 hitting percentage, to go along with three blocks. Fellow senior
Jonalee Elliott also finished with 11 kills, while freshman
Emily Allard narrowly missed a triple-double with nine kills, 18 digs, and 18 assists, in addition to a team-high four blocks.
Olivia Heck led the Red Hawks in assists with 24.
