GRINNELL, Iowa - Grinnell defeated Ripon's women's soccer team 1-0 Saturday afternoon, with the game's only goal coming just two minutes into the contest. The game was evenly played for most of the day, with Grinnell holding a 16-9 shot advantage.
The only goal of the game came off the foot of Simona Bambi, her sixth of the year, on an assist from Lauren Edwards.
"We'd love to have the opening minutes back because we probably deserved something out of this game," Ripon Head Coach
Greg Ruark said. "We battled hard against a very good team, but came up just short."
Miye Aoki-Kramer made nine saves for Ripon (9-6, 3-4 MWC), while playing all 90 minutes, while Grinnell (9-6, 5-2 MWC) saw Goal Keeper Regan Kasprak save six shots in the complete game shutout.
Ripon will be in action again on Wednesday when they'll host Lawrence University. That game will begin at 3:30 p.m. at Prarie Field in Ripon and can be seen live atÂ
