Ripon Edges Beloit

RIPON, Wis. - Ripon earned a much-needed victory Thursday afternoon, defeating Beloit College 2-1 behind a pair of second half goals. The Red Hawks also out-shot Beloit by a 16-12 margin.

After a scoreless first half, Ripon (8-3, 2-2 MWC) fell behind early in the second period when Genesis Dade gave Beloit (3-8, 0-4 MWC) a 1-0 lead just 31 seconds into the half. Less than two minutes later, Meghan McCarthy tied the game at one, kicking the ball over the Beloit Goal Keeper into the back corner of the net. Ripon would take the lead in the 63rd minute when Brianna Schnell scored the game-winning goal for the Red Hawks.

"We weren't poor in the first 45 minutes, but we seemed flat, and the second half was different. I don't know if Beloit's goal got us going, but we were a much better team from that point on," Ripon Head Coach Greg Ruark said. "A fifth come from behind victory this season shows how resilient everyone on the team is, and they deserve all the credit."

Ripon Goal Keeper Miye Aoki-Kramer played all 90 minutes, making eight saves. Beloit's Connor Keegan-Lloyd recorded five saves in her 90 minutes between the pipes.

The Red Hawks will be in action again on October 14 when they'll host Illinois College at Prairie Field in Ripon for a 1 p.m. kickoff. That game can be seen live at https://portal.stretchinternet.com/ripon/.
