Red Hawks End Augustana (Ill.) Invitational With Pair of Losses

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - On the second and final day of the 2017 Augustana (Ill.) Invitational, Ripon's softball team lost both of their games, falling to the University of Dubuque 3-0 and to Augustana by a score of 8-0.

Against Dubuque (7-10), the Red Hawks (4-10) fell behind early when the Spartans scored on a sacrifice bunt in the bottom of the third inning. UD added two more in the sixth to complete the no-hit victory.

Lexi Reetz (3-5) took the loss, despite allowing just two earned runs on five hits, while striking out six. University of Dubuque's M.Kyle walked one batter, while striking out six and inducing 12 groundouts in the no-hitter.

The second game saw Augustana (7-8) jump on the board early with four runs in the top of the first and three more in the second, which included a two-run home run. The Vikings capped the scoring with another run in the sixth.

Ripon finished with seven hits, with a 3-for-3 performance from Rebeccah Jones. Tene Robinson added two hits, while Isabella Osborn and Sara Ertel also each had a base knock. Augustana finished with 13 hits, with five going for extra bases.

The Red Hawks will be in action again on April 5 when they'll open their Midwest Conference schedule at St. Norbert College. That doubleheader will begin at 3 p.m. in De Pere, Wis.
