RIPON, Wis. - Ripon's baseball team lost to Marian (Wis.) Thursday afternoon by a score of 6-1, despite both teams recording nine hits.
Marian (9-14) jumped out to an early lead, breaking a scoreless tie in the top of the second inning when they scored from third on a wild pitch. The Sabres added four more runs in the following inning, scoring three runs on a double to left field, and another on an RBI single to center.
Ripon's only run came in the seventh when
Isiah Ramos scored on a single to right by
Hector Aguinaga. Marian would add another run in the eighth to cap the scoring.
Ramos and Aguinaga each finished with two hits, while
Brice Swick and
David La Tour also each recorded a pair of base knocks.
Matt Hecht pitched well in relief, allowing one run on two hits and striking out three without issuing a walk in three innings of work.
The Red Hawks (5-18) will be in action again on Wednesday when they'll host Concordia (Wis.). That single game will begin at 2 p.m. at Francis Field in Ripon, with LiveStats available atÂ
