RIPON, Wis. - The Ripon College volleyball team extended its hospitality Friday with the first day of its annual Red Hawks Invitational. Ripon defeated Marian (Wis.) in five sets to begin the day, before losing in three sets to Carroll (Wis.) in the nightcap.
Against Marian (3-3), The two teams alternated sets, as Ripon (3-8) won the match 25-20, 16-25, 25-20, 20-25, 15-9.
Jonalee Elliott led the Red Hawks with 18 kills, to go along with five digs and two blocks.
Emily Allard added 12 kills, 21 assists, and 14 digs.
Olivia Heck led Ripon in assists (30), while
Stacie Klika led the team in digs (22), and
Kaylie Marks recorded a team-high three blocks, to go along with five kills and a hitting percentage of .455.
Ripon followed that match with a 15-25, 21-25, 22-25 loss to former-Midwest Conference foe Carroll University. Freshman
Brooke Bauer led the way with eight kills, while Aubreigh Zimmerman, Elliott, and Allard each finished with seven. Allard also posted a team-high of 16 assists, while Klika led the way with 17 digs.
Kat Kulas added a team-high four blocks.
The Red Hawks will be in action again on Saturday when they'll host the second and final day of the 2017 Red Hawks Invitational. Ripon will battle MSOE and Saint Mary's (Minn.) at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., respectively. Both games can be seen live atÂ
