RIPON, Wis. - Ripon's women's swim team lost a dual meet to UW-Oshkosh Saturday afternoon by a score of 134-70. Despite the loss, the Red Hawks experienced some individual success, as they saw a pair of first place finishes, in addition to winning a Relay event.
Laryssa Vaclavik highlighted Ripon's day by winning the 1000 freestyle with a time of 12:10.33. The Red Hwak women's only other first place finish came in the 50 freestyle where
Lateesha Hiser won with a time of 26.27. Hiser also finished second in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:08.18.
Abby Hilker added a pair of second place finishes, doing the honors in the 200 freestyle (2:06.22) and 500 freestyle (5:40.42).
In relay competition, Ripon's 200 freestyle team of Hilker, Hiser,
Katherine King, and
Cierra Boutelle won the event with a time of 1:48.03.
"This was a great last meet before we head to our conference championships in two weeks," Ripon Head Swim Coach
Ryan Goggans said. "We also celebrated our seniors for their last home swim meet and it was a fun and competitive meet."
The Red Hawks will finish their season at the MWC Championships on February 16-18, hosted by Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa.
