RIPON, Wis. - Ripon's baseball team won their second consecutive game Wednesday afternoon, recording 15 hits in their 2018 home opener, en route to an 8-5 win against Marian University. The Red Hawks led from start to finish, as
Austin Fox (2-2) took a no-hitter into the sixth inning.
Ripon (3-8) started the scoring in the bottom of the first when two runs crossed the plate on a one-out single off the bat of
Riley Erickson. They added another run in the third on an RBI single by
Kyle Rogers, while two more runs crossed the plate in the fifth on a single from
Keegan Johnston to put Ripon up 5-0.
Marian (4-9) finally got on the board in the sixth, scoring three runs on three hits, but Ripon got all three of those runs back in the eighth, which saw RBI singles by Erickson, Rogers, and
Hector Aguinaga. Marian threatened with two runs in the top of the ninth, but it was not enough.
Erickson swung a hot bat all day, going 4-for-5 at the dish with three RBI and three runs scored. Rogers and Johnston each recorded two hits and two RBI, while
Josh Oswald also recorded a pair of base knocks. Fox pitched the first six innings and allowed just one earned run on three hits, while striking out three.
