JANESVILLE, Wis. - Ripon saw their four-game win streak come to an end Saturday afternoon, as they dropped back-to-back games for the first time since March 27th, losing to Illinois College 1-0 and 5-0.
In the first game of the day, neither team gave an inch, as they were deadlocked in a scoreless tie into the 13th inning, with both starting pitchers going the distance. The game's only run came in the top of the 13th when Illinois College (21-9, 13-3 MWC) scored on a sac fly.
Both teams finished with six hits in the games.
Tene Robinson led Ripon (16-18, 10-6 MWC) with three base knocks, while
Kayley Grabowski collected two hits, and
Isabella Osborn was responsible for the other.
Lexi Reetz (13-8) allowed one run on six hits in her 13 innings of work to lower her season ERA to 1.88, while also recording two strikeouts.
In the days second game, neither team scored until the third frame when Illinois College saw a run cross the plate on a fielder's choice. They added three runs on three hits in the fifth, including a two-run double to right centerfield. Illinois College capped the scoring with an RBI single to left field.
Ripon finished with five hits, with two coming from Robinson.
Lilli Smith (3-3) allowed 11 hits in her six innings, while striking out two batters.
Despite the losses, Ripon can still clinch a spot in the 2018 MWC Tournament on Sunday's final day of the regular season, with one win against Grinnell College. That doubleheader will begin at 1 p.m. at Tracy Field in Ripon and can be seen live atÂ
