Red Hawks Open Season With Loss At Loras

DUBUQUE, Iowa - Ripon's men's swim team opened their 2019-20 season Saturday with a 98-70 loss at Loras College. The Red Hawks recorded five first-place finishes on the day.

Leading the way for Ripon was Ben Chambers, who placed first in two separate evetns. Chambers won the 50 freestyle with a time of 23.15, while also winning the 100 backstroke with a time of 59.58. Freshman Ethan Brannen also earned a first-place finish, winning the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:06.54, while also placing second in the 100 breaststroke (1:07.94). Ethan Ripp added a first-place finish in the 100 freestyle with a time of 52.65.

In relay competition, Ripon's 200 freestyle team of Aliber Garcia, Joseph Maddux, Ripp, and Chambers won their event with a time of 1:34.10.

The Red Hawks will be in action again next weekend when they'll have their first home meet of the season in a double dual against Lawrence and Macalester, beginning at 1 p.m.
