MONMOUTH, Ill. - Ripon's volleyball team took Monmouth to the limit Friday night, but it was the Fighting Scots who walked away with the five-set victory, as the Red Hawks fell by a score of 26-20, 20-25, 25-19, 21-15, 11-15).
Ripon (2-15, 0-3 MWC) recorded 70 kills in the match, which was 14 more than Monmouth (7-9, 1-3 MWC), while the two team's hitting percentages were virtually identical.
Brooke Bauer led the Red Hawks with a career-high 17 kills, to go along with a hitting percentage of .214.
Monika Minniecheske also notched a career-high with 15 kills, to go along with 11 digs.
Inesha Wiseman added 13 kills and four digs.
Ellie MacKenzie also set a career-high with 61 assists, which is tied for the second-highest single game total in program history.
Micaela Encarnacion led the team with 26 digs, while freshman
Kaelyn Flairty finished with a team-high three service aces.
Ashley Farris paced Monmouth with 16 kills and a hitting percentage of .455. Riley Cook added 13 kills and a hitting percentage of .406, while Megan Gilstrap added nine kills and a hitting percentage of .320. Laura Dulee led the Fighting Scots in assists with 36, while Renee Rude recorded a match-high 28 digs.
The Red Hawks will be in action again on Saturday when they'll travel to Illinois College for a pair of matches against IC and Coe. Those matches will begin at Noon and 2 p.m., respectively, and can be seen live atÂ
