RIPON, Wis. - The Ripon College volleyball team continued its hot finish to the season Friday night, winning for the third time in their last four matches, as the Red Hawks defeated Lake Forest in four sets. The Foresters won the first set 25-22, before Ripon took the next three 25-19, 25-21, 25-23.
Ripon (5-19, 3-6 MWC) recorded 58 kills on the night, to go along with a hitting percentage of .231. They were led by freshman
Monika Minniecheske's 17 kills, which is her second consecutive match and third of the season with double-digit kills. She also posted a hitting percentage of .300, while recording two block assists.
Kaelyn Flairty and
Brooke Bauer each finished with 10 kills and hitting percentages over .300. Junior
Emily Allard added a career-high 41 assists, while also leading the team in digs (15) and blocks (5). Bauer also finished the match with five blocks. Ripon tallied 11 service aces on the night, led by
Micaela Encarnacion and
Arynn Mathieu, who recorded five and three, respectively.
Lake Forest (11-14, 4-5 MWC) saw three players record double-digit kills, led by Isabel Donnelly with 13. Olivia Drevs and Olivia Smith each posted 12 kills. Olivia Rhodes led the Foresters with 33 assists, while Izzi Visnjevac had a team-high 26 digs.
The Red Hawks will bring their 2019 season to a close on Saturday when they'll travel to Marian University for a non-conference battle with the Sabres. That match will begin at Noon in Fond du Lac, Wis., and can be seen live at
