PLATTEVILLE, Wis. - UW-Plattevile scored 46 points in the paint Wednesday night, en route to a 72-61 win against Ripon. The Pioneers shot 51 percent (30-59) from the field, while Ripon converted 43 percent (20-47) of their shots from the field.
The Red Hawks' only lead of the game came on the opening basket by
Alyassa Burgess. UW-Platteville would score the next six points and would lead for the remainder of the game. The Pioneers would extend their lead to double digits in the second quarter on a 3-pointer by Morgan Horstman, before going into halftime with a 10-point advantage.
UW-Platteville (6-1) led by double-digits for the entire third quarter, but Ripon (4-2) scored 14 consecutive points to nearly erase a 15-point deficit with seven and a half minutes remaining. The Pioneers scored the next seven points to regain some breathing room, and Ripon never got closer than four the rest of the way.
Megan Dille led Ripon with 13 points and four rebouinds in 19 minutes off the bench.
Kiana Fall added a career-high 12 points, while Burgess also scored 12 points, to go along with seven rebounds, two assists, four blocked shots, and two steals.
Alison Leslie chipped in with 11 points.
UW-Platteville was led by Maiah Domask's 17 points, while Horstman added 16 points and nine rebounds. Allison Heckert and Maddy Williams scored 11 and 10 points, respectively.
Ripon will be in action again on Friday when they'll travel to UW-Stevens Point at 7 p.m.
