BELOIT, Wis. - In a game in which they never trailed, Ripon's women's basketball team defeated Beloit Wednesday night by a score of 76-49. The Red Hawks shot 48 percent (29-61) from the field, while holding Beloit to just 30 percent (13-43) shooting.
Ripon (4-1, 1-0 MWC) scored the game's first seven points, and would get out to an 18-4 lead in the first quarter. Beloit (1-5, 0-1 MWC) then used a 14-4 run to get back in the game, before the Red Hawks pushed the lead to eight at halftime. The Red Hawks took their largest lead of 29 points in the final minute on a 3-pointer by
Annika Anderson.
Alison Leslie led Ripon with 16 points on 7-of-8 shooting), to go along with five rebounds, two assists, and two steals.
Alyassa Burgess added 15 points and seven rebounds, while
Danyelle Waldera scored 10 points off the bench.
Beloit was led by Kelly Loudon's 20 points and five rebounds, while Lauren Glaser recorded 15 points and four boards. Ripon's bench outscored Beloit's reserves 34-4.
