RIPON, Wis. - Ripon trailed for just two and a half minutes Saturday afternoon, as they defeated St. Norbert 66-48. Ripon scored 27 points off 30 St. Norbert turnovers, while committing just 20 themselves.
After a free throw gave St. Norbert (1-6, 0-2 MWC) the game's first lead,
Alison Leslie connected on a 3-pointer to give Ripon (5-1, 2-0 MWC) a lead that they would never relinquish. Leading 13-9 after one quarter, the Red Hawks expanded that lead to 15 in the second quarter and took a 35-22 lead into halftime.
Ripon pushed their lead to 19 in the third quarter on a layup by
Caitie Carpenter, and would lead by as many as 23 in the final quarter. Seventeen players earned playing time for the Red Hawks, with nine players scoring at least two points.
Leslie led Ripon with a game-high 14 points, while fellow freshman
Bonnie Jensen scored 13 points on 6-of-7 shooting, to go along with six rebounds and three assists.
St. Norbert was led by Kaycee Gierczak's 10 points off the bench, while Jessica Boerner added seven points in a reserve role.
Ripon will be in action again on December 11 when they'll travel to UW-Platteville at 6 p.m.
