Ripon Notches Another Shutout In Split of Games

CLERMONT, Fla. - For the second consecutive day, Ripon split a pair of games on their annual Spring Trip. The Red Hawks defeated Bethany (W.V.) 5-0 to start the day, before falling to Wesleyan (Conn.) by a score of 5-2.

Making her fourth start of the season against Bethany (0-1), Senior pitcher Lexi Reetz (4-0) recorded her fourth consecutive complete game shutout, extending her scoreless streak to 28 innings to start the year. Reetz allowed six hits in her seven innings, striking out five batters, while walking none. She also helped herself with a two-run double in a four-run fifth inning.

Teara Morgenroth got Ripon (4-4) on the board, driving in the game's first run in the bottom of the fourth on a single through the right side of the infield, scoring Kayley Grabowski. After Reetz's two-run double in the fifth, Julia Sanchez followed with a double of her own, scoring two more runs.

In the day's second game, Wesleyan (5-4) jumped on the board first with a four-run second inning. They added another run in the fourth, before Ripon scored their first and only runs in the bottom of the sixth. Morgenroth drove in the first run of that inning on a single to center, while Taylor Natzke also drove in a run on a sac fly.

Ripon recorded more hits than Wesleyan (8-6), led by two apiece by Sanchez, Morgenroth, and Bre Ollech. Cortney Bols (0-2) pitched effectively, allowing just two earned runs on six hits in 6.1 innings of work.

The Red Hawks will be in action again on Tuesday when they'll face Anderson University and Allegheny College at 9:30 and 11:45 a.m. ET, respectively. Both games will be played at Hancock Field in Clermont, Fla., with LiveStats available at https://portal.stretchinternet.com/ripon/.
