OSHKOSH, Wis. - Ripon's softball team traveled up Highway 44 Tuesday afternoon for a non-conference battle, losing both games in five innings by scores of 11-0 and 10-2.
In the day's first game, UW-Oshkosh (16-9) jumped on the Red Hawks (7-21) early with five runs in the bottom of the fifth. The Titans added four runs in the third and put the game out of reach with two more in the fourth. UW-O out-hit Ripon 13-5 in the contest.
Lexi Reetz led Ripon with two hits in her three at-bats, while
Addison Lindsey, Hailey Reierson, and
Molly Potter also each collected a base hit.
UW-Oshkosh began game two much like they began the first, with six runs in the bottom of the first inning. Ripon climbed back into the game with their first runs of the day in the top of the third, which was led off by freshman
Emyli Kreiser's first career home run.
Taylor Natzke would later add a sac fly in the inning, which scored
Julia Sanchez. That would be all the runs Ripon would get however, as UW-O closed out the game with a four-run fourth inning.
Ripon's six hits came from six different players. They were out-hit by the Titans by a 14-6 margin.
The Red Hawks will be in action again on Thursday when they'll travel to Lawrence University for a Midwest Conference doubleheader in Appleton, Wis.
