Ripon's men's tennis team split a pair of matches on Saturday, falling at Monmouth College 7-2, before defeating Knox by a score of 8-1.
In their victory against the Prairie Fire, the Red Hawks (2-6, 1-3 MWC) won all six singles matches, while taking two of their three doubles matches.
Drew Jorgensen won his top singles flight 7-5, 6-3, while
Preston Wurtz was victorious at the number two position (1-6, 7-5, 6-3).
Adrian Granados and
Junmo Kwon won at the third and fourth flights, respectively, with scores of 7-5, 6-1 and 6-3, 7-5.
Marcus Austin took his fifth flight match 6-1, 6-2, while
Daniel Garcia won at the number six flight, 8-2. In doubles play, Granados teamed up with Kwon to win 8-4 at the number two flight, while Wurtz and Garcia won their number three match 8-3.
That win followed a loss to Monmouth (4-8, 3-1 MWC), which saw the Fighting Scots win all three doubles matches, while taking four of the six singles matches. Ripon's two team points came at the number five singles flight where Kwon was victorious 6-2, 2-6, 12-10 and at the number six flight where Garcia won 6-3, 4-6, 10-3.
The Red Hawks will be in action again on Sunday when they'll travel to Cornell College in Mount Vernon, Iowa.
