CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Ripon opened the first day of the Mabel Lee Tournament on Friday with a four-set loss to Saint Mary's (Minn.). The Red Hawks lost the first set 25-19, before tying the match at one with a 25-17 victory in the second set. The final two went the way of the first however, with Saint Mary's claiming the third and fourth set 25-20 and 25-13, respectively.
The two team's hitting percentages were nearly identical, with Saint Mary's holding the edge .226-.225. Ripon, which recorded 11 kills in all four sets, was led by
Emily Allard's 13 kills, 12 digs, seven assists, two service aces, and a hitting percentage of .241.
Inesha Wiseman added nine kills, while freshman
Lydia Ellis recorded eight and a .533 hitting percentage.
Ellie MacKenzie again led the Red Hawks in assists with 26, while
Monika Minniecheske finished with a team-best three blocks (one solo).
The Red Hawks (2-10) will finish their time at the Mabel Lee Tournament on Saturday with matches against UW-Platteville and Carleton at Noon and 2 p.m., respectively, at Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
