RIPON, Wis. - Lakeland University defeated Ripon's men's soccer team 3-2 Sunday afternoon thanks in large part to a pair of first half goals. Despite the loss, Ripon held a 22-10 shot advantage, including 14-5 in the second half.
Lakeland (3-5-1) wasted no time getting on the board with a goal by Alessandro Bianchi just one and a half minutes into the contest. The Muskies added another goal in the 36th minute off the foot of Ryoto Kinoshita. Ripon (0-7-1) would cut that lead in half just before halftime when
Christian Martinez scored from about 30 yards out in the 42nd minute.
Lakeland added to their lead in the second half on an unassisted goal by Lizandro Jiminez, which deflected off the Goal Keeper in the 51st minute. Ripon would score once more in the game's final minute on
Heath Dillenbeck's first goal of the season, but it was not enough.
Ripon Goal Keeper
Kenny Smith played all 90 minutes, making five saves for the Red Hawks. His counterpart, Alex Vanden Avond, saved six shots in 90 minutes of work.
