RIPON, Wis. - Ripon's volleyball team faced a tough test Saturday afternoon, as they hosted Cornell College, who has won the Midwest Conference regular season championship in each of the last seven years.
The Red Hawks (2-14, 0-2 MWC) challenged Cornell (8-7, 2-0 MWC) in the first set, which featured five ties and three lead changes, before ultimately falling by a 25-22 score. The Rams then went on to close out the match with wins in the second and third sets by scores of 25-12 and 25-13, respectively.
Ripon was led by
Brooke Bauer's 13 kills and .458 hitting percentage, while
Kaelyn Flairty and
Monika Minniecheske recorded seven and five kills, respectively.
Ellie MacKenzie led the team with 27 assists, while MacKenzie and
Micaela Encarnacion tied for the team lead in digs with 10.
Rory Light led Cornell with 11 kills and a .688 hitting percentage, while a trio of players added nine kills. Danielle Amonica led the Rams in assists with 31, while Sydney Meeker posted a match-high 15 digs. Cornell also finished with eight team blocks.
