APPLETON, Wis. - Ripon shot 57 percent (39-69) from the field, including 69 percent (22-32) in the first half on Saturday, en route to a 95-53 win at Lawrence University. The Red Hawks also shot 52 percent (13-25) from 3-point range, which is tied for the fifth-most single game 3-pointers in program history. The win marks Ripon's fifth consecutive victory, winning each game by an average of 26.8 points during that streak.
Ripon (14-7, 10-4 MWC) led from start to finish, getting out to an early 12-2 lead just four minutes into the contest. Leading by eight with just under 13 minutes left in the first half, Ripon went on a 30-7 run to take a 31-point lead two minutes before halftime.
Leading 53-24 at the half, Ripon kept their foot on the gas in the second half, going on a 20-9 run to start the period to take a 40-point lead on a
Trent Jones layup. The Red Hawks would lead by as many as 43 in the game, as Head Coach
Ryan Kane remains undefeated in his career against Lawrence (16-0).
Nine Ripon players scored at least five points in the game, led by
Trent Jones' 17 points on 8-of-13 shooting, to go along with three steals. That gives Jones 102 steals in his career, which moves him into 10th place in school history.
Seth Kostroski added 14 points on 5-of-9 shooting, including 4-of-7 from 3-point range, while also tying a career-high with six assists.
Owen Theune and
Drew Jorgensen also chipped in with 11 points apiece. Ripon turned the ball over just six times, and out-rebounded the Vikings 46-26.
Lawrence (9-12, 5-9 MWC) was led by Mason Materna and Bryce Denham, who each scored 15 points. Brad Sendell added nine points, while Quinn Fisher recorded five assists.
