KOHLER, Wis. - Ripon's men's tennis team defeated Lakeland University 8-1 Saturday night to earn their first victory of the 2020 season. The Red Hawks won five of their six singles matches, while winning all three doubles matches by a combined score of 24-11.
In doubles play,
Adrian Granados teamed up with
Junmo Kwon at the top flight to win 8-5. Ripon's number two team of
Daniel Garcia and
Preston Wurtz also won by an 8-5 score, while
Luke Austin and
Marcus Austin teamed up to win 8-1 at the third flight.
Wurtz and Kwon also won their singles match by scores of 6-0, 6-0 and 6-0, 6-2, respectively, at the number one and two flights.
Luke Austin was victorious at the fourth flight by a score of 6-1, 7-5, while
Marcus Austin and Garcia won at the fifth and sixth flights, respectively, by scores of 6-1, 6-1 and 6-4, 6-1.
Ripon (1-3) will be in action again on Sunday when they'll host Dominican (Ill.) University. That match will begin at 4 p.m. in Ripon, Wis.
