ROCHESTER, Minn. - On the second and final day of the Rochester Dome Tournament, Ripon lost a pair of games, falling to Macalester 8-1 and to Luther by a score of 8-0 in five innings.
The Red Hawks (0-4) fell behind early to Macalester in the day's first game. The Scots scored once in the top of the first on an RBI double to left center field. They would add another run in the third on an RBI single, before plating one run in both the fourth and fifth innings and four more in the top of the sixth. Ripon's lone run came in the bottom of the sixth when freshman
Riley Breider drew a bases loaded walk.
Ripon was led by Brieder's 2-for-2 performance at the plate, while
Julia Sanchez,
Taylor Natzke, and
Addison Lindsey recorded one hit apiece.
Lilli Smith (0-1) suffered the loss, despite allowing just two earned runs in six innings of work.
In the day's second game, Ripon recorded just one hit, coming off the bat of
Cortney Bols, who singled to center field in the second inning. Luther opened their scoring with two runs on three hits in the bottom of the first. They added three more runs in the second on an RBI single and a two-run double, before scoring twice in the third and once more in the bottom of the fifth to end the contest.
Ripon will now prepare for a 10-game slate in Clermont, Fla., beginning Sunday against Springfield and Utica at 9:15 and 11:30 a.m. ET, respectively.
