APPLETON, Wis. - Ripon's volleyball team notched their first conference win of the season Friday night, defeating Lawrence University in four sets. The Red Hawks won the first frame 29-27, and after losing the second, 11-25, would win the final two, 25-19 and 25-14, respectively.
Ripon (9-14, 1-4 MWC) recorded 43 kills in the match, led by
Inesha Wiseman's 13.
Arynn Mathieu added 11 kills, while tying for the team lead with 12 digs.
Riley Nielsen served up 37 assists for the Red Hawks, while
Micaela Encarnacion and
Sam Thrasher chipped in with 12 digs apiece.
Lawrence (5-13, 0-5 MWC) was led by Sophia Galassini's match-high 22 kills, to go along with a .246 hitting percentage. Elizabeth Liebau added 14 kills, while Dana Mestey produced 40 assists, while also posting a match-high 17 digs.
Ripon will try to use their momentum on October 22, whe n they'll travel to Galesburg, Ill. to battle Knox College. That match can be seen live at https://portal.stretchinternet.com/knox/.
