APPLETON, Wis. -- The Ripon College football game at Lawrence University, originally scheduled for Saturday, November 13, has been postponed, Lawrence Director of Athletics Kim Tatro announced today. The Midwest Conference game, scheduled to be played on Ron Roberts Field at the Banta Bowl, has been postponed due to COVID-19 protocols and has been rescheduled for Saturday, November 20 at 1 p.m.
"Our hope is that we will be able to play the game," Tatro said. "The rivalry means so much to both schools, and we all would like to see these young men have one more chance to compete this season."
Lawrence and Ripon is the oldest college football rivalry in Wisconsin and one of the oldest in the nation with the series dating back to 1893. The teams had met every year since 1945 before the pandemic forced the cancellation of the 2020 season. Ripon leads the all-time series 66-46-7 and has won the last 20 meetings in the series, with Lawrence's last win coming in 1999.
Lawrence is in its first season under the guidance of head coach Tony Aker, and the Vikings have put together a 2-7 record. Ripon enters the final game of the season with a 6-3 mark.
