RIPON, Wis. - One day after losing to Lake Forest in four sets, the Ripon College volleyball team totally redeemed themselves, defeating the Foresters in three sets on Saturday. The first two sets were as close as could be, with the Red Hawks winning 28-26 and 26-24, respectively. Ripon then closed out the match with a 25-17 victory in the third and final set.
Ripon (1-2) recorded at least 10 kills in each set, while posting a hitting percentage of .180 and holding Lake Forest (4-2) to a hitting percentage of .063.
Emily Allard led Ripon with a team-high 13 kills, to go along with 13 digs and a hitting percentage of .256.
Brooke Bauer added nine kills of her own and three blocks, which was tied for the team lead with
Inesha Wiseman.
Kaelyn Flairty also chipped in with eight kills.
Riley Nielsen led all players with 36 assists, while
Micaela Encarnacion tallied a team-best 19 digs.
Mary Gegen led Lake Forest with a match-high 14 kills, whiel Olivia Smith posted 12. Allyson Richards led the Foresters in assists with 28, while Izzi Visnjevac's 23 digs led all players.
The Red Hawks will now try to build on this victory on Wednesday when they'll travel to Fond du Lac, Wis. to take on Marian University. That match will begin at 5 p.m. and can be seen live at https://portal.stretchinternet.com/marianwi/.
