RIPON, Wis. - Beloit never trailed in Saturday's doubleheader, en route to a pair of wins over Ripon's baseball team. The Buccaneers won game one 19-5, before also taking the nightcap by a score of 9-2.
The first game saw each team score a run in the first inning, before Beloit pulled away, scoring at least one run in every inning except the seventh, including a seven-run sixth inning.
Ripon finished that first game with 11 hits, led by a 3-for-4 performance at the dish by
Nick Tenny.
Keegan Johnston and
Owen Greene added two hits apiece, while
Nick Terrell was 2-for-2 with three runs scored and one RBI out of the leadoff spot.
The day's second game saw Beloit again take a 1-0 lead after the top of teh first, before adding four more in the second and two more in the third. The Buccaneers took a 9-0 lead with two more in the sixth before Ripon got on the board in the bottom of the seventh. They would add another run in the eighth to cap the scoring.
Ripon out-hit Beloit 10-7 in the game, as all but one player with at least one at-bat recorded at least one hit. Tenny led the Red Hawks with a 2-for-5 performance, while scoring one of the team's two runs, with the other coming from
Jon Hall. Hall and
Jimmy Woller recorded the team's only RBI.
Caleb Green pitched well in relief, tossing 3.2 hitless innings, while striking out a pair of batters.
The Red Hawks will be in action again on Saturday when they'll host University of Chicago in a doubleheader beginning at Noon. That twinbill will take place at Francis Field in Ripon.
