STEVENS POINT, Wis. - Ripon's volleyball team competed at the annual UW-Stevens Point Pointer Invitational over the weekend, losing all three of their matches in three sets. The Red Hawks lost to UW-Oshkosh and St. Olaf on Friday by scores of 25-11, 25-22, 25-9 and 25-21, 25-20, 25-17, respectively. They then ended the tournament Saturday morning with a 25-13, 25-10, 25-10 loss to Bethel (Minn.).
In their first match of the tournament, Ripon (8-10) was led by
Lydia Ellis' seven kills and .273 hitting percentage.
Inesha Wiseman added five kills, while leading the team in blocks with four.
Sam Thrasher and
Lani Harris each recorded a team-high seven digs, while
Riley Nielsen had a team-best 14 assists.
Against St. Olaf (5-5),
Arynn Mathieu led the Red Hawks in kills (10) to go along with a .308 hitting percentage. Wiseman added seven kills and a hitting percentage of .227. Nielsen and
Micaela Encarnacion led the team with 15 assists and 10 digs, respectively.
Ellis, who was named to the All-Tournament Team at the conclusion of the event, led Ripon in kills in their third and final match Saturday morning. Her five kills were accompanied by a .154 hitting percentage. Nielsen led the way with seven assists, with Encarnacion registering a team-best 10 digs.
Ripon will be in action again on Friday when they'll begin conference play against Lake Forest College. That match will begin at 7:30 p.m. at Weiske Gymnasium in Ripon, and can be seen live at https://portal.stretchinternet.com/ripon/#live.
