Ripon Remains Undefeated In Conference Play

RIPON, Wis. - Ripon's women's basketball team remained atop the Midwest Conference standings Wednesday night, defeating Lawrence University 64-41 to improve their conference record to 6-0 on the season. The Red Hawks never trailed Wednesday night, shooting 44 percent (24-54) from the field, while holding the Vikings to just 27 percent (15-55) shooting.

The two teams traded baskets to start the game, before Ripon (7-8, 6-0 MWC) scored the next five points to take an early control of the ball game. The Red Hawks ended the opening quarter on a 13-4 run to take an 11-point advantage into the second period. Ripon led by as many as 18 points in the first half, taking a 37-23 lead into halftime.

The Red Hawks took their largest lead of 26 in the final quarter when Anna Fahrney connected on a 3-pointer late in the game. Ripon scored 36 points in the paint, while outscoring the Vikings (5-8, 2-3 MWC) in second-chance points by an 8-0 margin.

Skyylar Brescia led Ripon with a career-high 15 points, to go along with nine rebounds and three assists. Bonnie Jensen and Kiana Fall added 14 points apiece, While Alison Leslie pulled down seven rebounds.

Lawrence was led by Kenya Earl, who finished with 12 points and seven rebounds, while Delaney Brooks scored 12 points off the bench.

Ripon will be in action again on Tuesday when they'll travel to Lake Forest College. That game will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Lake Forest, Ill.
