DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Ripon College swimming team was edged by Loras in the season-opening meet by a score of 95-94 Saturday afternoon.
Ripon started the season with a two-second win in the 200-yard medley relay. Brennan O'Leary,
Sophie Czerwonka,
Anna Bose and
Natalie Weidner combined for the win in 2:05.09.
Sky Domingo turned in an impressive 1,000-yard freestyle, picking up the win by over a minute. She touched the wall in 11:52.26.
Czerwonka garnered a win in the 200-yard IM, touching the wall in 2:28.68.
The Red Hawks took the top two spots in the 500-yard freestyle. Domingo once again hit the wall first (5:47.25) while
Macey Manni's time of 6:24.15 bested the bronze medalist by a second.
Czerwonka won the 100-yard breaststroke after surging to the lead by over two seconds in the first 50 yards. She won the event in a time of 1:15.55.
The Red Hawks return to action Oct. 22 against Lawrence in the team's home opener. Action is slated to begin at 11:30 a.m.
