GRINNELL, Iowa – The Ripon volleyball team was tripped up on Saturday afternoon, falling 3-0 at the hands of Grinnell College in Midwest Conference action. Three Red Hawks tied for the team lead in kills with six apiece, while
Riley Nielsen picked up 24 assists on the day.
The Pioneers took the first set by a score of 25-17, rattling off four different 4-0 runs throughout the set. Back-to-back attack errors late in the set help Ripon close the gap to four points, but Grinnell picked up five of the final six points to take a 1-0 lead into the second set.
Ripon turned in their tightest battle of the day in set two, as the set was tied at 22 before a Malania Miles kill give the home team a 2-0 advantage. While the Red Hawks stayed within striking distance for the bulk of the third set, the Pioneers stayed in a rhythm, picking up a 25-15 victory to finish off the afternoon.

Inesha Wiseman each picked up six kills, with the latter seeing a six-game streak of at least 10 kills come to an end. Nielsen rounded out a double-double with 21 digs, while
Sam Thrasher and Mathieu followed with 19 and 14 respectively.
The Red Hawks are back in action at home on Tuesday evening, when they host Lawrence University in another Midwest Conference clash. First serve from Doc Weiske '50 Memorial Gymnasium is slated for 7:00 p.m.
