LA CROSSE, Wis. - The Red Hawks Men's Basketball team suffered its first defeat of the 2022-23 campaign, falling to No. 15 UW-La Crosse, 86-57, Tuesday night.
Â
Jaylen Mahone and Luke Meinholz were the only players to reach double-figures, scoring 11 and 10 points, respectively. But it was a cold shooting night for Ripon as the Red Hawks shot just 31 percent overall and 15 percent from three-point range.
Â
Ripon never led in the game, falling behind 7-0 early in the first half and having to play catch-up the rest of the way. The Red Hawks battled as best they could against their nationally ranked foe, trimming what was a 12-point advantage for UW-La Crosse with 9 minutes left in the first half to four points just four minutes later, however, the La Crosse closed the half on a 16-0 run and led 39-19 at the break.
Â
The Red Hawks could not cool off the Eagles during that run or in the second half as they trailed by double-digits the entire 20 minutes before falling by the 86-57 score.
Â
Ripon returns to action on Saturday, November 26
th with a road matchup at UW-Whitewater. The game is set to start at 5:00 p.m.
