OSHKOSH, Wis. - Ripon's softball team competed on the final day of the UW-Oshkosh Invitational, falling to both UW-Superior and St. Scholastica by scores of 8-2 and 11-3, respectively.
In the first game of the day, Ripon took the first lead of the day on an RBI double by
Claire Luebke in the top of the first inning. After UW-Superior tied things up with a run in the bottom of that inning, Ripon grabbed the lead back in the second when
Emily Karvala drove in
Anna Bauer with an RBI single down the right field line. That lead lasted until the third when UW-Superior plated five runs on four hits, before adding one run in both the fifth and sixth inning.
Ripon finished the contest with four hits from four different players.
Alli Martin and
Brennah Bronk combined to allow just one earned run in 3.1 innings of relief.
In the day's second game, St. Scholastica led from start to finish, scoring twice in the top of the first and five more times in the second. Ripon would score three times in the fifth to cut the lead to four, but St. Scholastica ended the game with four runs in the top of the fifth.
The Red Hawks finished the game with six hits, led by two apiece from
Micaela Encarnacion and
Anna Bauer. Encarnacion,
Mikaela Lawrence, and
Maddie Hablewitz each drove in a run.
Ripon will now get ready for their annual Spring Trip to Florida, which will begin next Sunday against Edgewood and Salve Regina at 9:30 and 11:45 a.m., respectively. Those games will have LiveStats available at https://static.riponredhawks.com/custompages/LiveStats/Softball/xlive.htm.
