RIPON, Wis. - Beloit led from start to finish Saturday afternoon, as the Buccaneers defeated Ripon 9-6 to win the three-game season series. Ripon finished the contest with 16 hits, while Beloit produced 12 base knocks.
Beloit (13-12, 9-6 MWC) started the scoring in the top of the first with a pair of RBI singles. Ripon (10-11, 6-6 MWC) would get one of those runs back in the bottom of the inning when
Nick Terrell drove in a run with a single down the left field line.
Beloit added three more runs in the second, before
Remington Cox singled home a run in the third to cut their lead to three.
Brady Price, Terrell,
Samuel Ott, and
Brock Warren would all add RBI later in the game for the Red Hawks, but it wouldn't be enough to overcome Beloit's nine runs.
Cormac Madigan, Ott, and Warren each recorded three hits in the game, while Terrell and Price added two hits apiece.
Brock Turkington and
Brett Tetzlaff each pitched well in relief, combining to allow just one earned run on three hits in six innings.
The Red Hawks will be in action again on Tuesday when they'll travel to University of Chicago for a 1 p.m. doubleheader. Those games can be seen live at https://athletics.uchicago.edu/sports/bsb/live-video.
