MIDDLETON, Wis. - Making their second consecutive appearance in the Midwest Conference Team Tournament Friday afternoon, the Ripon College men's tennis team lost to Lake Forest College by a score of 5-0. The Red Hawks finish the season with a team record of 7-9, which is their most wins in a single season in 15 years.
Ripon's number one doubles team of
Marcus Austin and
Drew Jorgensen lost their match on Friday by a score of 8-0. The team of
Ty Rondestvedt and Jayden Francis lost their second flight match by a score of 8-1, while
Calvin Battle and
Eugene Pliska teamed up at number three doubles, falling by a score of 8-2.
In singles play, only the number one and two flights went the distance, with Jorgensen and Battle losing those, respectively. The other four singles matches went unfinished.
Despite the loss, the Red Hawks still have a couple days left in the season, as they'll take part in the MWC Singles and Doubles Tournaments on Saturday and Sunday, respectively. Those tournaments will both be played at Hitters SportsPlex in Middleton, Wis., and will begin at 8 a.m. each day.
