Red Hawks Crush Six Home Runs To Complete Season Sweep of Knox

GALESBURG, Ill. - One day after sweeping a doubleheader at Knox College, Ripon's offense picked up right where it left off, defeating Knox 21-6 in seven innings behind six home runs, to earn the season sweep of the Prairie Fire. The Red Hawks' recorded 17 hits in the game, with 10 going for extra bases, while their 21 runs scored are tied for the 12th-highest single game total in program history.

Ripon (14-13, 10-7 MWC) got on the board early and often, breaking a scoreless tie in the top of the first on a RBI single by Samuel Ott. The Red Hawks then scored eight runs in the second inning, keyed by a three-run triple by Cormac Madigan, and a three-run homer by Ott, which was followed immediately by Keegan Johnston's third home run of the three-game series.

Knox (5-20, 3-11 MWC) would get on the board with a solo homer in the bottom of the second, but Ripon added two more runs in the third on a two-run shot by Nick Terrell. After Knox scored once more in the fourth, Cam Stampfl got into the action with a solo home run, his second of the season, which was followed by Terrell's second home run of the game and his team-leading seventh homer of the season. Terrell drove in two more runs on a double in the sixth, while Ott added his second three-run homer of the game later in the inning to put Ripon up 18-2, putting the game well out of reach.

Terrell finished the game 4-for-5 with five RBI and six runs scored, improving his team-leading batting average to .419. Ott also had a exceptional game, going 3-for-6 with seven RBI, which is tied for the third-most in a single game in program history. Stampfl added two hits and two RBI, while scoring five runs. Freshman Mitchell Lukasik continued his superb play on the mound, as he remained undefeated, improving his season record to 5-0, while striking out a career-high 11 batters in the complete game victory.

Ripon will try to stay hot on Tuesday when they'll travel up the road to play UW-Oshkosh. That game will begin at 4 p.m. in Oshkosh, Wis., and can be seen live at https://portal.stretchinternet.com/uwosh/.
