OSHKOSH, Wis. - Despite taking the first lead of the game Tuesday night, Ripon's baseball team lost 8-3 at UW-Oshkosh, as the Titans extended their current win streak to nine games. Six of Ripon's nine hits came in the first two innings, while UW-Oshkosh finished with 11 hits, including a pair of home runs.
Ripon (14-14) got on the board in the top of the first when Sam Ott doubled to center, scoring
Nick Terrell, who reached base on a two-out triple. UW-Oshkosh (19-10) then took their first lead of the game with two runs in the bottom of that frame, including a solo home run by Zach Taylor. Ripon would tie things up in the top of the second on an RBI single off the bat of
Cam Stampfl, but that lead only lasted until the third when UW-O scored three runs, including another home run by Taylor, this time a two-run shot to left.
UW-Oshkosh added three more runs in the fourth to take an 8-2 lead, which was more than enough, as Ripon could only muster one more run the rest of the day, scoring on an RBI single from
Kaleb Burns in the eighth.
Keegan Johnston led Ripon's offense with a 2-for-3 performance at the plate as the team's only player to finish with a multi-hit game.
Brandon Peace pitched well in relief, firing 3.1 scoreless innings of relief, while scattering three hits, while
Orion Rieden pitched one hitless inning of relief.
