Ripon College junior
Dameco Walker has been named Midwest Conference Men's Outdoor Field Performer of the Week, as announced Tuesday by the conference office.
Walker had a historic day at UW-LaCrosse's Phil Esten Meet over the weekend, breaking Ripon's longest-standing school record, which had stood for 98 years in the Long Jump. Set in 1924 by Ripon Hall of Famer Ralph Christophersen '25, with a benchmark of 23-06, Walker surpassed that mark on multiple attempts, his farthest going out to 24-10 to win the competition. His second farthest jump was 24-05 and had a legal tail wind of 2.6 m/s, which currently ranks him fifth overall in the nation. Walker also set a personal-best in the 200m of 22.40 seconds (sixth in school history) and anchored the 4x400 relay to the third-fastest time in school history (3:21.65), teaming up with
Andrew Fuhrmann,
Wyatt Lowrance and
Jacob Jumbeck.
