MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The Ripon College women's tennis team traveled to Milwaukee Thursday to open the 2022 season with matches against the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Points and Wisconsin Lutheran College. The Red Hawks fell 9-0 to the Pointers and 8-1 to the Warriors.
In the first match of the day, Wisconsin-Stevens Point (2-0) controlled the match from the start taking all three doubles matches to take an early 3-0 lead. The Pointers cursed to a 9-0 win over Ripon after sweeping all six singles matches. This was only the second time in program history that both teams faced off with Wisconsin-Stevens Point taking the first match 7-2 back on Sept. 11, 2021.
Later that afternoon, Ripon's (0-2) third doubles team made up of
Chase Polyak and
Emma Ziebell claimed the team's first point of the season and only point in the match with an 8-6 win. Polyak in her third singles match took the first set 6-4 before dropping the next two. The Warriors (1-1) claimed an 8-1 victory over Ripon. This was the third time both teams have met with the last meeting taking place back in 2016.
The Red Hawks travel to Green Bay, Wis. on Saturday, September 3 to face St. Norbert College at 11 a.m.
