The Ripon College women's basketball team extended their win streak to open the 2023 calendar year to 4 games following an 80-66 road victory over Monmouth College Saturday afternoon.

Skyylar Brescia again led the way for Ripon with 14 points and 4 rebounds.
Kiana Fall was second on the team with 13 points, shooting 9-of-10 from the free throw line, and added 5 rebounds in 29 minutes of play.
Bonnie Jensen battled foul trouble but still finished with a stat-filling 12 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 block, and 1 steal day.
Jordan Bukouricz made her presence known off the bench, grabbing a game-high 8 rebounds while tallying a team-high 3 assists to go along with her 4 points.

For the game, Ripon shot 45.3 percent from the floor and 29 percent from three-point range, but a 5-of-15 showing in the first quarter had the Red Hawks trailing 15-11 through 10 minutes of play. The beginning half of the second quarter was not much better for Ripon, as their deficit grew to 8 points on two occasions the last coming at 23-15 with 5:08 left in the half. From there, however, the Red Hawks went on an 11-1 run and took their first lead since the 4:57 mark of the first quarter at 26-24. Monmouth tied the score at 26 and 28, but a pair of free throws by Jensen had Ripon up 30-28 at the half.

Ripon opened the third quarter on a 10-1 run that pushed their lead to double digits for the first time in the game. Monmouth answered with a 10-2 run of their own, trimming Ripon's advantage to just 3 points, but the Red Hawks engineered layups for Jensen and
Alison Leslie to quickly push it back to a 7-point game, a lead that Ripon took into the fourth quarter. It was a 46-39 game heading into the fourth quarter, but the final 10 minutes saw 51 total points scored between the two teams, nearly matching the entire number of points scored for the first half.

The Red Hawks again used a quarter-opening run to push their lead into double figures, this one being a 9-3 run that made it a 55-42 game with 8 minutes left to play. Ripon maintained a double-digit advantage for nearly the entirety of the remainder of the quarter, with Monmouth only able to cut it to no less than 8 points on a few occasions down the stretch. Ripon went a perfect 10-for-10 from the charity stripe in the final minute to seal the 14-point victory.

Ripon returns home for a mid-week Midwest Conference game against Lake Forest College on Tuesday, January 17th. The game is set to start at 5:30 p.m.
