RIPON, Wisconsin – The Ripon men's soccer program used two goals in just over 60 seconds to earn an important 2-1 win over Monmouth on Saturday at Prairie Field for Senior Day.
Monmouth (3-10-2, 2-3-2 MWC) wasted little time jumping ahead on Saturday, scoring just 12 minutes in on the Scots' first shot of the match. Towards the end of the first half, Ripon (5-4-5, 1-3-2 MWC) picked up the pace as
Trent Kazlauskas scored on a feed by
Thomas Geocaris, evening the match at 1 apiece on his first goal of the season in the 35th minute.
Just over one minute later, the Red Hawks pulled in front as
Nick Bellisle also found the back of the net for the first time in 2023, this time on a pass from
Finley Manning.
Ripon led 2-1 after the first half, outshooting Monmouth 9-4 (7-1 on goal).
The Red Hawks tallied 9 more shots in the second half and the defense held strong to preserve an important conference win for Ripon with just two MWC matches remaining.
Ripon had an 18-7 advantage in shots and only surrendered two shots on goal. Overall, Ripon has accumulated 50 shots over the last two games after a 32-shot performance on Tuesday against Maranatha Baptist.
Eli Dietzel had a match-high 4 shots to pace Ripon, while
Andre Roberston and
Miguel Rodriguez each tallied 3.
Sam Jahnke played all 90 minutes in the net and had 1 save.
UP NEXT: Ripon ends the home portion of its schedule on Monday (October 23) as the Red Hawks host Concordia College (Minn.) at Hopp Stadium. First touch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
