RIPON, Wisconsin – After leading Ripon to an upset win over the undefeated and defending Midwest Conference champions,
Jaden Shackelford has deservedly been named the Midwest Conference Defensive Performer of the Week as announced by the league on Monday afternoon.
Shackelford had a career day on Saturday in helping Ripon stun Lake Forest 12-0. The sophomore had a career-high 13 tackles – all solo – and chipped in two tackles-for-loss, a sack, a forced fumble and a pass breakup. The sophomore was part of a Red Hawks defense that held LFC without a rushing touchdown for the first time all season. Additionally, the Foresters had their second-lowest passing yard total on the season as the Ripon defense forced 3 fumbles and 3 interceptions for its highest single-game takeaway total since forcing 8 turnovers against Grinnell on September 29, 2018.
This is the sophomore linebacker's first career weekly MWC award, and second for Ripon this season after wide receiver
Alex Mosqueda was named the Offensive Performer of the Week on September 11.
Ripon hosts Monmouth on Saturday (October 28) for its final home game of the fall. Kickoff from Hopp Stadium is scheduled for 1 p.m.
