GREEN LAKE, Wisconsin – In the final meet before the NCAA North Regional meet in nine days, the Ripon cross country programs performed well at the Red Hawk Open on Thursday afternoon at Tuscumbia Golf Course.
It was the smallest meet of the season for the Red Hawks, who raced against UW-Stevens Point and UW-Oshkosh.
On the men's side, three Red Hawks finished inside the top-10.
RJ Olson was the top Ripon performer, finishing the 8K in 27:31.21 for a fifth-place finish.
Jeremy Saloun wasn't far behind him, taking eighth in 27:38.69.
Rounding out the top-10 was
Jacob Jumbeck, who cruised into 10th place with a time of 28:03.61, seven seconds ahead of the 11th finisher. Another top-15 runner for Ripon,
Jake Budd, took 14th in 28:48.13.
On the women's side,
Mya Garcia turned in a third-place finish to the tune of a 25:28.10 showing. She was the only Red Hawk inside the top-10, but
Jada Johnson and
Minnie Hoffman took 12th and 13th with times of 26:05.61 and 26:08.30, respectively. The final Red Hawk to finish in the top-15 was
Ximena Juarez Martinez, who clocked in at 26:37.65 for 15th place.
Facing a pair of perennial cross country powers and state schools, the Ripon men came in second, while the women took third.
