RIPON, Wis. – The Ripon College men's tennis team pushed Wartburg in every match but lost a hard-fought 6-3 contest to the visitors.
The Red Hawks are now 0-7 on the season.
CJ Counts and
Caleb Sippel combined for an 8-4 victory at the No. 1 doubles spot.
Ty Rondestvedt and
Austin Stevens paired up for an 8-6 win at the No. 2 slot. The Red Hawks narrowly missed out on a 3-0 lead but the dyad of
Casey Bryant and
Kyle Pelzek fell by an 8-6 count at No. 3.
Stevens posted a 6-3, 6-2 victory at the No. 3 position for Ripon's third point of the match.
The match nearly went the way of the home team but Rondestvedt fell in the tiebreaker at No. 4. Scores were 0-6, 7-6, 4-10. Counts lost a 7-5, 6-4 decision at the No. 2 spot.
The Red Hawks return to action Sunday, Feb. 26 when they host Milwaukee Area Technical College at 9 a.m.
